I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at California State University, San Bernardino. I obtained my PhD degree at the School of Criminal Justice, SUNY Albany. I am interested in errors in the criminal justice system, the death penalty, and criminal justice policies.

  • When you type my first name “Sishi,” it is often autocorrected to “Sushi.”

    • “Sishi” is hard to pronounce even for some native Chinese speakers.

  • “Sishi,” in Chinese (思诗), accidentally summarizes the dialogue of thinking and poetry by the German philosopher Martin Heidegger (1959):

    All reflective thinking is poetic.

    • My parents didn’t know who Heidegger was when naming me, though.
